Endpoint Central is a comprehensive desktop management solution that allows IT administrators to effectively manage Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. It offers a wide range of features, including Software and Operating System Management, Asset Management, Patch Management, Tools, and Mobile Device Management.
The iOS app for Endpoint Central, formerly known as Desktop Central, empowers admins to perform key desktop management tasks from anywhere in the world. This enables IT administrators to be productive on the go and frees them from being tied to their office. With the app, administrators can add or remove computers to manage, perform hardware and software asset scans, check software license compliance, and much more. The app also facilitates various patch management activities such as approving or declining patches and monitoring system health status.
Key tasks that can be performed using the app include:
Scope of Management:
- Add or remove computers to be managed using Endpoint Central
- Initiate installation of agents on managed computers
- Check the status of agent installations
- Monitor agent contact frequency with the server
- Review information on remote offices
Asset Management:
- Get an overview of assets managed by the app
- Scan systems to gather hardware and software information
- Review hardware asset information
- Check software compliance status
- Analyze software usage to optimize resources
- Prohibit the usage of certain applications
Patch Management:
- Scan and identify vulnerable computers
- Detect missing patches for Windows, Mac, Linux, and 3rd party applications
- Approve or decline patches
- Monitor automated patch deployment tasks
- View system health status
Remote Control:
- Troubleshoot remote desktops from anywhere
- Ensure user privacy by requesting permission before connecting
- Supports multiple monitors, automatically detecting and displaying them
- Perform quick actions such as running a command prompt or changing control panel settings
- Option to take control of either a user session or computer session
To activate the app:
- Install the Endpoint Central iOS app on your device
- Enter the credentials for the server name and port used for Endpoint Central
- Sign in with your username and password for the Endpoint Central Console
Endpoint Central has received numerous awards and recognition, including being recognized by the Gartner Magic Quadrant in both 2014 and 2015. It has also won the Community Choice Award for Best Configuration/Deployment and Best Patch Management solution at the Windows IT Pro magazine awards in 2013. Additionally, it was ranked third by Windows IT Pro in server administration tools in 2013, and InfoTech research named it "value for money" in its 2012 research report. It is approved for use on US Navy networks.
